Helping Children and Families Navigate Life

Savannah Lyon

About Me:

As a child, Savannah was usually found in her room reading a book, playing the piano, or with friends in the amazing treehouse her dad built. Growing up, she wanted to be the first female president, a teacher, a concert pianist, a traveling photographer, a missionary to Africa, but most of all a mom. Her love for children and foster care stemmed from her parents providing care for kids. Savannah always found it exciting when new children came to stay, even if it meant sharing her room.

In high school, Savannah had the opportunity to go to Kenya on a mission trip. During that trip, caring for children who were less fortunate was birthed in her heart and she felt called to live a life that mattered for eternity. This led her to attend Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Missouri where she earned her Bachelor’s in General Ministry. She was also fortunate to spend a semester abroad studying evangelism near Venice, Italy. Savannah received her Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She has been employed with Compass since 2012. Savannah’s role at Compass is to engage the broader community in the child welfare field in the ways that God has blessed them to participate.

Savannah’s hobbies include writing, reading, scrolling Facebook, learning about the Enneagram, studying the Bible and teaching her Sunday School class. She is learning how to golf as an exercise in practicing failure. Savannah’s family includes her daughter, Kailie and son, Gabe, her Old Man Yorkie, Diego and Bernese Mountain Dog, Bear. She also has a lop eared bunny, Ms. Abby.
