Kathy Arrants
Intensive Family Specialist
Kathy hopes that every person she meets feels understood, respected, and valued. She believes meaningful connections begin with listening well, showing empathy, and creating a space where people feel safe to be themselves. Whether she's working with families, colleagues, or community members, her goal is to ensure others feel heard and supported.
Kathy's journey to Compass began long before she officially joined the team. While working at a local restaurant, she often watched Compass staff gather for lunch, openly sharing their faith and encouraging one another. Their genuine love for God and each other left a lasting impression. She found herself wanting to pull up a chair, listen to their conversations, and learn from the community they had built. When the opportunity to join Compass came along, she knew it was something she couldn't pass up.
With a double major in Criminal Justice and Family Studies, Kathy brings experience from both corrections and social work. These fields have given her valuable insight into human behavior, addiction, trauma, and family dynamics while strengthening her ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Through those experiences, she has developed a deep sense of empathy and a passion for helping others feel understood, supported, and empowered.
Outside of work, Kathy treasures time with her family. She enjoys lunch visits with her parents, spending time with her children, and making memories with her seven grandchildren. Family has always been at the center of her life and remains one of her greatest joys. Her household is also kept lively by three beloved dogs - a Golden Retriever and two Dachshunds - who keep life entertaining and active.
When asked what she's most passionate about, Kathy doesn't hesitate: family. Some of her favorite moments are summer afternoons spent in the pool with loved ones, where laughter comes easily and the distractions of everyday life fade away. Those simple moments remind her of the importance of being fully present and investing in the relationships that matter most.
One of Kathy's favorite Bible passages is Hebrews 10:35-36: “Do not, therefore, abandon that confidence of yours; it brings a great reward. For you need endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.” A friend shared these verses with her during a season when she was struggling with her faith. The message served as a powerful reminder that faith isn't the absence of doubt or hardship, but the courage to remain steadfast through life's challenges. Today, those words continue to encourage her to trust God's plan, persevere through uncertainty, and move forward with confidence and hope.
