Shari Fortune

Foster Care Licensing Specialist

Shari hopes that everyone she meets feels the peace and love of Jesus and knows they are important, valued, and welcome. She believes that every interaction is an opportunity to reflect Christ’s love and to remind others that they matter.

What first drew Shari to Compass was its Christ-centered mission and commitment to serving children and families. The organization's core values closely align with her own, and she felt called to be part of a ministry that helps bring healing, restoration, hope, and support to those facing difficult circumstances. Having personally experienced God's love and grace, Shari is passionate about sharing that same hope with others.

Shari has been a valued member of the Compass family for more than 15 years. Throughout her time with the organization, she has served in several roles, including Family Specialist, Foster Care Support Specialist, and now Foster Care Licensing Specialist. Her diverse experience has given her a deep understanding of the foster care journey and a strong commitment to supporting children, biological families, foster families, and caregivers every step of the way.

Outside of Compass, Shari enjoys spending time with her husband, beginning each day together with Bible study and devotional time. She also loves bike riding, hiking, kayaking, trail walking, fostering children, and making memories with her adopted granddaughter and her family.

At the center of Shari’s life is her relationship with Jesus. She is passionate about her faith, her family, her church community, and supporting the ministry God has entrusted to her family through foster care. She believes that some of life's greatest blessings come through serving others and walking alongside them in both joyful and challenging seasons.

One of Shari’s favorite passages is Jeremiah 29:11-13. She finds comfort in God's promises of hope, guidance, and purpose, especially during times of uncertainty. These verses remind her that God is faithful in every season - whether on the mountaintop or in the valley - and can always be trusted. Her prayer is that others would embrace the promise found in verse 13, seeking God wholeheartedly and experiencing the peace, purpose, and fulfillment that can only be found in Him.
