John Dutton

Therapist

John hopes that people feel seen and heard when they interact with him. He believes that creating space for people to share their stories, experiences, and goals is an important part of helping them feel supported and understood.

John often says that Compass picked him. What began as an unexpected opportunity has become a meaningful fit, allowing him to use his experience and passion for helping others in a place that values faith, compassion, and care.

John brings 14 years of experience as a therapist, serving children, teens, and adults through a variety of life challenges and seasons. His approach to therapy is collaborative, working alongside each client to develop goals and create a plan to reach them. He believes his clients are the experts in the room because they know their own lives and experiences better than anyone else ever could. His role is to listen, support, guide, and help them move toward growth and healing.

Outside of Compass, John enjoys spending time with his family and being at the lake. One of his greatest passions is being a dad to his 8-year-old and 5-year-old, and he treasures the everyday moments and memories he gets to share with them.

One of John’s favorite Bible verses is Isaiah 41:20. The verse immediately stood out to him and made a lasting impression, becoming one he loved right away. It reminds him of God’s power, presence, and ability to work in ways that make His care and faithfulness known.

Through his experience, collaborative approach, and heart for helping others feel understood, John is committed to walking alongside clients as they pursue healing, growth, and meaningful change.
