Lauren Furman

Director of Engagement

Lauren hopes that everyone she interacts with feels seen, safe, and genuinely welcome. She believes that meaningful relationships begin when people know they are valued, and she strives to create an environment where others feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged.

Her journey with Compass began unexpectedly. While searching for an internship opportunity, Lauren knew she wanted to serve people in need, but she knew very little about foster care. Her first interactions with Compass leaders Kelley Mast and Brad Stolcpart left a lasting impression because of their kindness and welcoming spirit. What started as an internship quickly grew into a passion. Over the past seven years, Lauren has fallen in love with Compass’s mission, the people it serves, and the incredible team she gets to work alongside every day.

Throughout her time at Compass, Lauren has worn many hats and gained experience across a variety of roles. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Studies and Educational Studies and has also begun pursuing a Master’s Degree in Counseling. Her diverse experiences have strengthened her passion for equipping and supporting those who dedicate their lives to helping others.

At the heart of Lauren’s work is a passion for helping others help others. Whether she is supporting foster families, encouraging coworkers, or serving the community, she finds purpose in empowering people to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around them.

Outside of Compass, Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog, tackling home renovation projects, listening to music, staying active at the gym, and training for a half marathon. She loves finding new challenges and opportunities for growth, both personally and professionally.

One of Lauren’s favorite passages is James 1:2-4: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance" - it reminds her that God is present even in life’s most difficult seasons. The verse encourages her to see challenges not as setbacks, but as opportunities for growth, endurance, and deeper faith. It serves as a powerful reminder that the Lord is always guiding, strengthening, and helping her find light and purpose, even in the midst of hardship.
