Maya McAndrew
Foster Care & Training Specialist
Maya hopes people feel genuinely seen, heard, and cared for when they interact with her. She is a listener at heart and loves creating space where people can feel comfortable being themselves. As a mom, she has gained an even deeper appreciation for patience, grace, laughter, and loving people right where they are.
Joining Compass felt like an answered prayer and a meaningful next step for Maya. She has always had a heart for children, youth, and families, especially during vulnerable seasons. Her background includes eight years of teaching preschool and three years in children’s ministry, including serving in a director role at Christ Place Church. She is also finishing her bachelor’s degree in sociology and hopes to earn her Master of Social Work and eventually become a Christian therapist for children.
Outside of Compass, Maya loves spending time with her daughter, family, and friends. She enjoys reading, exploring coffee shops and bookstores, spending time outside, traveling, and cheering her daughter on in school, sports, and dance.
Maya is passionate about helping people feel loved, supported, and reminded that they are not alone. At the center of that passion is her faith and her desire to let the love of Jesus shine through the way she cares for others.
One of Maya’s favorite Bible verses is 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” It has been a life verse for her, reminding her to walk in faith rather than fear and to stay grounded in who God says she is.
